Puran Andrew Gurung is a distinguished leader, visionary, and a dedicated advocate for the Gorkha community, best known as the founder of the Gorkha Shaheed Sewa Samiti. His unwavering commitment to honoring the sacrifices of our brave soldiers and supporting their families has made a profound impact on countless lives.
In addition to his humanitarian efforts, Puran has made significant contributions to the field of martial arts, particularly Taekwondo. He currently serves as the President of the All-India Taekwondo Federation and is the Chairman of both the World Martial Arts School Federation and PAG Taekwondo International. His leadership in these organizations has helped promote Taekwondo across India and beyond.
Puran’s expertise and dedication to the sport are further exemplified by his role as the Ex Technical Chairman of the Taekwondo Federation of India. He is widely recognized as the “Father of Taekwondo” in India and Nepal, a title that reflects his pioneering efforts in establishing and popularizing the martial art in these regions. His contributions have been formally acknowledged by the Official Taekwondo Hall of Fame in the USA, further solidifying his legacy in the martial arts community.
As a 9th Dan black belt accredited by the International Chang-Ho Taekwondo Federations in Canada, Puran is not only a practitioner but also an educator, inspiring countless students to pursue excellence in Taekwondo. Additionally, he serves as an International Referee for the World Taekwondo Federation in Korea, showcasing his expertise on a global platform.
